Uruguay Libertarians And Their Civic Movement, Party

Partido Liberal Libertario

…about time for the country founded as a Lib-based autarchist community by Libs of the day guided by then LIO ( then Liberal-libertarian League) co-head the great Lemos Obando (  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Mar%C3%ADa_Obando )  , and of course his advisor Artigas ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Gervasio_Artigas ) who worked for a slave-free and economically model self-sufficient democratic republic  with free communes and now shaking off a dark period fighting off both extremist left and right subversion… Now benefiting from the overthrow of Latin and Communist dictaors encouraged by LIO Fellows in the 80′s in the first phase of OPERATION DEMOCRACY ( now busy in phase two against the remaining problem countries–see www.libertarian-international.org  ) , after a period of re-Liberalization folks are ready for more Libertarian tools—so: Please give them a like at http://partidoliberallibertario.com.uy/

http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlepolitics/2012/03/01/misspelling-prejudice-alaska-human-rts-commissioner/

Many Libs in Alaska ( and through the US) complained right-wing loonies infiltrated the party to create a bad name—and had gotten riud of training programs to avoid this kind of problem…what do you think?

A man named Mark Fish from Big Lake, Alaska, has bowed out from reappointment to a second term on the Alaska State Human Rights Commission due to a misspelled blog charging that “radical” feminists are out to “eliminate men from the face of the earth.” Read More…

Libertarians in Public Office (EALO’s) of the Month: The Nigerian Libertarian-Inspired Kalakuta Republic & Local Office Movement

L
MG fan artist and social thinker Fela Kuti developed Afrobeat music, staged hilarious political stunts, facilitated serious and effective community efforts that changed Nigeria– and awakened  a pro-democracy and cultural self-development movement in Africa.

…Liberal for the locality and day (Women has complete equality but yet punished for misbehavior, gays were welcomed)  and an avowedly libertarian-inspired and LIO-noted  haven created by artists for alternative living, general welfare that worked and  no crime, LIO fan folk-artist and activist Fela Kuti’s soon 1000 resident ‘non-governmental libertarian community with Nigerian traditional characteristics’ free co-op hung pictures of David Nolan, then LIO head E. Gilson, Ayn Rand,  Murray Rothbard and more–and was invaded by the dictators and para-military gangs of rapists and local Communist gangsters to re-emerge triumphant  first as a party that successfully championed federal democracy and put libertarian admirers  in local office then as local and cabinet ministers –and now as national symbol of local improvement and study of cultural heritage, and continues as local Libs work with Libertarian Citizen , Atlas, http://www.ISIL.org  and others to create a model local Lib-interest community. http://www.noripcord.com/features/fela-kuti-and-kalakuta-republic and Read More…

EALO: Elected or Appointed Libertarian In Public Office Of The Month…Costa Rica Congress

http://www.liberal-international.org/editorial.asp?ia_id=1709 …Otto Guevara Guth has been in the Costa Rica Congress, is getting to 7% numbers in Presidential runs, co-founded the Libertarian Movement Party there, and there’re now many Libertarians or party members in local public office on Libertarian-Liberal themes now approaching or over the LIO first milestone of to 20, then 30 per 1 MM population ( That would be like 6000 Libertarian and Libertarian-aware in public office in the USA and 10% of Congress) … Additional Libertarian-Liberal themed parties are underway per the LIO – recommended Troika approach ( like the NGL  group) and will be profiled later as they put people in public office… He says the first job of aspiring officials is “…learn Libertarian basics ( and other philosophies) and something about it every day so you have the confidence to bring other officials and the public to us…use Libertarian-oriented proposals like tax reduction, but don’t be afraid to propose pure approaches like getting rid of a tax entirely…focus on customer service to the voter…and on building the movement through educational talks, rallies, coalitions etc…” Read More…

Libertarian In Public Office of the Month:The Juror

http://fija.org/2012/04/20/jury-statute-not-violated-by-protester-judge-rules/ (plus go to site for activist guide) before running off to spend large sums on elected candidates—The key public office is a self-selected one: active elector/voter and juror. Unsurprisingly many officials attempt to keep jurors mis-informed on their powers to rtry law and fact…including arresting one for distributing pamphlets urging people to know the law and get informed by variopus web groups. Courts have found for him, and libertarian civil rights activist Prof. J. Heicklen is emblematic of the public office many of us most neglect in the forgotten 4th and originating branch of government: the electorate Read More…

Kenya: Michuki, Libertarians Bettered Democracy, Understanding Needed says Media

EALO/Libertarian of The Month…

While no one was looking the loose Libertarian-Liberal study network there has quietly and successfully pushed for more democracy, initial re-privatization, inter-tribal understanding and more– but there is some confusion and more concepts, clarity could help suggests interesting opinion piece by local centrist. Remembering LIO Fellow and environmental. fair elections champion  John Michuki, who welcomed LIO tools and worked to pave the way, himself going through a dramatic and admittedly imperfect personal evolution and advising startled fellow ministers to read MG and the USLP Libertarian-direction platform for ‘contrarian ideas that work’ and study  MacCallum’s “Art of Community, Rothbard, Bastiat, Jefferson, our own heritage, and grow up!”

Three Most Important Libertarians in US Public Office…

While eyes are focused on national campaigns– the fact is Libertarians are getting into elected and appointed non-partisan and partisan public office… and normalizing the use and try-out of more voluntary, rights-friendly solutions…

ONE: Erik Viker is (left photo) emblematic of one of the growing number of elected Libertarians who, after monitoring local board meetings and making many sensible comments, was asked to run for election on his local town council. He gives unstinting inspiration and advice to those interested in seeking local office in the US and frequently comments on the USLP Facebook to help candidates get started on the right foot.

TWO: Julie Chorgo (right, with past local Libertarian Mayor McPherson) emblematic of women Libs who has been on several appointed boards –and here both congratulate Kira Gilson (in between), one of the small but growing contingent of teen Libertarians in public office (she is Vice Chair of the County Youth Advisory Board). Chorgo encourages Libertarians worldwide on getting started in local office whatever their party and starting Libertarian study groups.

THREE: You and Your Team. “Every Libertarian should get involved as a ballot access or issue activist or in local appointed public office at the very least. It’s simple, costs little,  and you can start today in non-partisan and effective activities. Simply check on your local government website for appointed citizen boards and task forces, or look into your neighborhood board…”–David Nolan, USLP  (run for office tools page) lead founder, father of Nolan Quiz (http://www.TheAdvocates.org). The Editors will report or link to your good work as a Libertarian in non-partisan public office championing voluntary solutions…send us a line, then link back and share this story with friends!
