FBI Releases Words You Use That May Trigger Investigation: Libertarians, Liberals Facepalm

…and in fact coercive government, far from inventing the internet, has done all it can to keep the internet from happening, and still is busy trying to control it with crazed web censorship and surveillance statutes–and in the US, a ‘fair’ internet sales  tax ( getting rid of these silly taxes is never discussed)  that will mandate additional snooping while in fact taxing every business more with a website via more crazed rules and lost time–and likely draconian non-compliance penalties)… Libertarians and friends as with many things were the driving force liberating personal action that created the internet–  LIO Fellows  and Lib friends Read More…

Opinion: Are We Losing Our Freedom?

…NO! says LIO’s MG — though it’s not from lack of trying by the right-wing and other ‘mainstream’  extremists who tell us we are as they nibble at this and that…or unhappy activists who lose touch with where we were–and says keep pushing for voluntary alternatives for the real cause–justice (Photo: Availability of cheap tasty coffee of seemingly endless varieties and forms has risen with Lib-championed trade, interest in unaccustomed cultures and ways, and ease of small business where more difficult than before as lack OR complexity of laws hid arbitrary rules)..  10 Things  We Now Enjoy thanks to Libs, and Read More…

Common Law vs Statute Systems: Total Myth, Say Libertarian Thinkers

…or at least in our book, as scholars confuse  historical accident or cultural emphasis with the need for both plus ignored the third and powerful  private re-statement in consultation with the people now drivimng world change…as Libs like MG (who grew up in Spain) did in studying the Ur-text of Iberian common law, the surprisingly Lib-similar and  modern Usatges, now available in English translation…Lib scholars have also studied case law systems such as the Xeer, which is why most Somalis ignore their western-imposed government in recent years and develop independent cantons like Somaliland, and interested LIO Fellows welcome or actively  urge local and national study of systems starting with native peoples…

Libertarian Call for Animal Quasi-Rights, Meat Substitutes Advances

42 years after the LIO prodded by MG  first convened activists to work on the issue, and sentient dolphins and Libertarian gorillas were portrayed in award-winning libertarian -based Science Fiction (most famously in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) , movement is accelerating: Scientists are doing promising work on purer and more life-extending meat substitutes http://reason.com/blog/2012/02/21/is-it-steak-yet-no-but-vat-grown-burgers as intellectuals now agree Libertarians weren’t so ‘crazy’ after all and seek better treatment of near-(and for all we know, actual) sentients such as dolphins–so…so long, and thanks for all the fish–[ass this article on to help the movement: Read More…

*LIO Fellow B. Fuller: The Lib-Direction Governmentless City

…that helped inspire the modern world movement: Anarchist community without government ( using common law juries, contracts) in a mini-archist designed but flexible setting. This concept of a highly-proactively designed voluntary action/libertarian-based governmentless city of a highly humane and educated population so fascinated planners and futurists  it attracted favorable attention by the US Government, 3M and the University of Minnesota, which in the ’60′s contemplated helping fund a model for studythe US Federal Government studied abolishing itself, said Fuller, except as a more guideline oriented educational entity.

Alert! US, Canada Libs Hail 13K Dow, Prep For Gas Price Surge

…noting the economy is benefiting from Lib open orgs such as the web, easier foreign investment (plus capital fleeing to US from Europe),  and home businesses not on the radar–and we need more of that, not backfiring tax rises or proposed IRA’s seizures– many Libs are topping off gas tanks and storing (in safe cans for the purpose) gas, car-pooling, and using said web to find cheapest gas to level out price swings, making donations to help out their favorite causes such as food pantries to help others… (and while you’re at it, look at  LIO Fellow Harry Browne’s approach for the next swing) . So get moving. (Photo: Browne and LIO co-ordinator and curator MG yuk it up after presentations; the two strong advocates of proactive endowments and portfolios for public projects and consumers).
