Opinion: Are We Losing Our Freedom?
…NO! says LIO’s MG — though it’s not from lack of trying by the right-wing and other ‘mainstream’ extremists who tell us we are as they nibble at this and that…or unhappy activists who lose touch with where we were–and says keep pushing for voluntary alternatives for the real cause–justice (Photo: Availability of cheap tasty coffee of seemingly endless varieties and forms has risen with Lib-championed trade, interest in unaccustomed cultures and ways, and ease of small business where more difficult than before as lack OR complexity of laws hid arbitrary rules).. 10 Things We Now Enjoy thanks to Libs, and Read More…

Libertarian Call for Animal Quasi-Rights, Meat Substitutes Advances
42 years after the LIO prodded by MG first convened activists to work on the issue, and sentient dolphins and Libertarian gorillas were portrayed in award-winning libertarian -based Science Fiction (most famously in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) , movement is accelerating: Scientists are doing promising work on purer and more life-extending meat substitutes http://reason.com/blog/2012/02/21/is-it-steak-yet-no-but-vat-grown-burgers as intellectuals now agree Libertarians weren’t so ‘crazy’ after all and seek better treatment of near-(and for all we know, actual) sentients such as dolphins–so…so long, and thanks for all the fish–[ass this article on to help the movement: Read More…

Alert! US, Canada Libs Hail 13K Dow, Prep For Gas Price Surge
…noting the economy is benefiting from Lib open orgs such as the web, easier foreign investment (plus capital fleeing to US from Europe), and home businesses not on the radar–and we need more of that, not backfiring tax rises or proposed IRA’s seizures– many Libs are topping off gas tanks and storing (in safe cans for the purpose) gas, car-pooling, and using said web to find cheapest gas to level out price swings, making donations to help out their favorite causes such as food pantries to help others… (and while you’re at it, look at LIO Fellow Harry Browne’s approach for the next swing) . So get moving. (Photo: Browne and LIO co-ordinator and curator MG yuk it up after presentations; the two strong advocates of proactive endowments and portfolios for public projects and consumers).
*Dr. Murray Rothbard: Hey Scholars! Get Informed…
…On the basics of Libertarian-direction scholarly research with the organizing vision of the “interdisciplinary science of Libertarianism” so championed by the great LIO Fellow and provocative interdisciplinarian Dr. Rothbard @ the seminal: http://mises.org/periodical.aspx?Id=3 that is re-awakening Liberalism and bringing together a multiplicity of perspectives…NB: You need to stay current, as many items have a context not reflected in the papers, but at least you won’t be dismissed by Libertarians as a total idiot who doesn’t do basic research. And budding young scholars in every country: the LIO encourages you to begin with translations then move on to studying and documenting Libertarian precursors and life experiences IN YOUR OWN COUNTRIES, NATIVE PEOPLES & COMMUNITIES…for a start on accepted core readings at www.LibertarianBookClub.org with more on the way…

He serves on the board of many Libertarian educational groups and has been in developing Students for Liberty. He advises LIO fans to look into simple books on time-management and learning ‘how to plan backwards from the end’ in mind as very useful life tools (see www.LibertarianBookClub.org in mid 2012 for some suggestioons) …and that simple courtesy goes a long way…See Read More…
Libertarian Green: 3 Key Things Libertarians Have Done That Saved The Ecology
LIO Fellow Mike Barr, who served on a local public office on Soil & Water Board, is leading a local movement where people are working on ecological issues, volunteering, and property rights protection. LIO Friends have been working to remove coercive laws against urban gardens, farms, and community garden co-ops. The LIO is leading creation of model Libertarian/SMILE-interested networks to generate and legalize model Libertarian eco-communities as an ultimate goal.

From the 1st Survivalist Conference: Know The 3 Surivalist Conditions
Photo: Harry Browne and MG worked tirelessly to promote long-range Lib preparedness and autonomy
The LIO sponsored a series of conferences along with its first general conference on spreading voluntary tools in the 70′s. The main focus along with an expo where pioneers in the prep/survival/autonomous home-natural eco-movement shared products and ideas was a dialogue on the 3 Survivalist Alert Conditions defined by the then young Michael Gilson.
